James Chapter 1: 2-4

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

1. Why do we need to have joy in the midst of our trials?
2. What trials have tested your faith?
3. What does perseverance look like to you?
4. Why do you think perseverance is a key ingredient to maturity?
5. What qualities in you need to become "mature and complete"?

Pray for God to help you in these areas.

  1. This is one of the harder things in the bible to understand, I believe.

One could think that God is just tinkering with you. "Let's see what he does when I do this". And when you are going through something difficult, who wants to hear the classic 'churchy' person tell you, "God is tesing your faith".

It's almost like they are syaing...."No big deal" when it is a big deal to you.

In the end, it just helps me to know that whne you are going through something difficult that God cares and is moving you toward something better...that from all bad things he will bring some good.

We just care always more about the here and now than the long run. In the end, he will lead you out and you will end up closer to him.
